finally made it out to San Diego zoo and Balboa Park yesterday
with some fellow Clarity colleagues. pretty cool. i like zoos
quite a bit and one nice thing about the San Diego zoo is it's
pretty big, so the animals have lots of room. a couple of the
funnier things were 1) couple of large tortoises (possibly Galapagos)
trying to mate or something, albeit terribly slowly and it didn't
seem to work out (to which I made the crack "talk about your foreplay"
and amused my fellow zoo-goers) and 2) the gorillas playing king
of the mountain. anyway, got a couple cool shots that I hope to
post, including one of a baby giraffe that really turned out nice.
after the zoo we walked around Balboa Park a bit. it's very cool.
i want to go back another day and visit some of the many museums.
i think there are 10-15 total, so lots to choose from. then had
some very good tapas for dinner. pretty fun day.

I bought this Fossil watch back in 1994 that I really
liked and it worked well for a few years. I replaced the
battery and it worked a bit longer and then seemed to wear
out as it wouldn't work consistently. I kept meaning to send it
back to Fossil as they will repair them pretty much forever or
at least try to. So I finally took it in to the Fossil shop
and had them send it in for repair a month ago or so. When I
got back into town this weekend, I had a form that basically
said the watch was too old to repair and they no longer had
parts for it, but hey, you can have any new watch
we carry in the $50-60 range if you send this form
back in with your preferences. That's some pretty sweet
customer service, considering how long ago I bought the
original watch. Makes me feel justified in buying another
Fossil watch a few months back. Some companies still get it right.
