The transcendent power of a great shower

21. April 2005 09:24 by skills0 | 0 Comments

Last night I slept in my new condo for the first time, on my Aerobed no less since my real bed is taken apart and still at the apartment.  As an aside, I've slept on a lot worse beds than that Aerobed, it was actually fairly comfortable.  Anyway, that meant this morning was the first time to shower in my new place and it was awesome.  Now you have to understand, my current apartment is a vintage building that still has a bunch of old plumbing.  The water pressure, hot water especially, is practically non-existent.  Now I'm a person who likes a hot shower and a lot of water pressure.  My new condo has one of those waterfall shower heads and plenty of hot water with great pressure.  I know it seems like a small (silly) thing, but sometimes that's all it takes to put a smile on your face in the morning.

I'm a homeowner!

Yes, it's official.  I closed on my first condo on Friday around noon.  Rather stressful, especially since the title company was somewhat incompetent and came up with about 5 different amounts that I owed at closing by the time we finally finished.  But God worked it out and I had enough to take care of everything and I have keys.  Did a bunch of painting over the weekend, so I'm exhausted.  More later (and pictures).

Tar Heels are national champs!

5. April 2005 09:31 by skills0 | 0 Comments

Not a very popular sentiment here in Illini country, but I've been a Tar Heels fan since high school.  Not sure how it started (might have something to do with a guy named Jordan), but it's by far my longest lasting sports allegiance.  I just like the style of play in the ACC in general and there are just some great coaches there.  Anyway, I thought the Illini looked vulnerable in a couple of their earlier tournaments games.  they are a good team, but really had no answer for Sean May down in the paint.  it's good to see the national title come back to Chapel Hill, it's been quite a while.  way to go, Tar Heels.
